About Us

Each local planning authority is required to produce a local plan for its area. South Holland District and Boston Borough Councils decided that producing a single, joint plan would bring significant planning and financial benefits. Consequently they joined with the County Council to ask the Government to create a new joint planning authority. On 5th July 2011, the South East Lincolnshire Joint Strategic Planning Committee Order 2011 [SI: 2011 No. 1455] came into force.

The Order created a brand new planning authority (the South East Lincolnshire Joint Strategic Planning Committee) with responsibility for producing a local plan for the area of Boston Borough and South Holland District. The new Committee, which had its first meeting on Friday, 9th September 2011, is made up of councillors from Lincolnshire County, Boston Borough and South Holland District Councils.
